Our first trauma as a married couple

After staying busy this weekend with our wedding reception & a baseball game, we decided to have a nice relaxing Sunday afternoon of yardwork & bbq. All of that changed when we noticed something was not right with Libby. She kept walking funny, tried to throw up unsuccessfully & was whining in pain. Thankfully, we did not wait too long before taking her to the vet. And since it was Sunday evening we had to go to the Emergency clinic. Turns out she had bloat. Her stomach flipped & oxygen was being cut off from her organs. I had never heard of this before but apparently it is fairly common in larger dogs. It is life threatening. At the vet clinic our options were either emergency surgery or euthanize her. Considering she is our baby princess...we went with the surgery. Happily, her stomach had not been damaged and she pulled through surgery well. She has to have staples in for another 10 days & cannot jump or go up and down stairs. And no lake for us this holiday weekend :( But whats important is that Libby is alive and will make a full recovery! Her IV

Poor girl. I am glad she is recovering well.
